The Errand account and roles

Your USDC sits in a Swig smart account that your wallet controls. Errand never holds it; it adds and removes roles on that account.

The owner role

Creating the Errand account makes your wallet its owner, with every permission. Only the owner can post an errand from the account, award a bid, recall, cancel and remove a role. The owner can also deposit into the errand's lenders until the term ends, and withdraw from them for as long as the errand is running or recalling.

One account carries one errand at a time: while an errand is open, running or recalling, the account can't post another. Once it settles or is cancelled, the account is free again.

The award's role

Awarding a bid adds a role for the bid's session key, and that role can only call the Errand program. Errand in turn accepts only two typed moves from it:

  • Deposit: USDC from the account into one of the errand's lenders, up to the cap per lender and the spending limit.
  • Withdraw: lender receipts back into USDC in the account.

The role works until the term ends or, after a recall, until the recall window closes. A swap, a transfer out, a call to any other program, or a deposit past the cap fails on chain.

The session key

A bid names its session key: the key that will sign the agent's moves. It can be the agent's own wallet or a separate key the agent's process holds. The award gives the role to that key and nothing else.

The keeper's role

The award also adds a role that lets a keeper run Errand's unwind after a deadline. It can only withdraw the receipts the errand tracks and settle; it can't deposit or change anything. See Recall and the keeper.

Removing the role

After the errand settles or is cancelled, or during a recall once every position is back in USDC, the owner can remove the session key's role from the account. The app offers it on the errand's page under Remove the agent's role.
